The York Region Farm Fresh program is an initiative that helps get local farmers on the map…literally. We in King Township are incredibly lucky to spoil ourselves with a bountiful supply of fresh local produce each year. The Township and the Region recognize the importance of supporting local agri-food businesses and providing delicious, fresh, local food to the community.
Farms are able to have their business placed on the Farm Fresh Map, which highlights places where locally grown products can be bought and is distributed across the region, free of charge. The map and information about the farm will also appear in the widely distributed York Scene Discovery Guide.
In addition to the Farm Fresh program there is an opportunity to participate in the Pumpkin Pie Trail event that will take place the week of September 27 – October 5. The Pumkin Pie Trail is a self guided tour of local farms, farmers markets, and attractions. Each venue will provide visitors with demonstrations, activities, or events that are pumpkin related. It is also free of charge and will earn participants a place on the Pumpkin Pie Trail Map, which is printed on the flip side of the Farm Fresh Map, and in the York Scene Discovery Guide.
This is a unique opportunity to increase the awareness of your farm/business in the region. Not only will it get your name out there but it will also get customers through your doors.
